The speech therapy department is an integral part of rehabilitation and its aim is the inclusion in a treatment programme of people with communication (speech and language) and swallowing difficulties, after a stroke, brain injury or other neurological condition.

The process of swallowing is important for humans, with an emphasis on safety. Techniques to improve speech and language are used in the treatment, with exercises to strengthen and increase the mobility of the structures of the oral mechanism.
