The speech therapy department constitutes an integral part of the rehabilitation process and its goal is to integrate individuals with communication difficulties (reason/written word and speech) and ingestion difficulties after stroke, traumatic brain injury or other neurological diseases, into an appropriate treatment program.

Communication is directly related to

  • reason, ie the concepts that the patient understands and their ability to formulate them in a properly structured manner – Sentences
  • the cognitive level, ie the perception, attention, and memory capabilities
  • speech, ie the oral expression of reason

The process of ingestion is important for humans, with special emphasis on their safety. During treatment, speech and reason improvement techniques, along with exercises that strengthen and increase the mobility of the oral mechanism structures, are incorporated and executed to facilitate the act of ingestion.
